In Hawaiian, Lomi-lomi means massage (kneading, kneading, rubbing, etc.) and is an ancient form of massage practised by the Polynesian natives of Hawaii.

This massage usually begins with a moment of calm between the patient and the practitioner, who generally places his or her hands gently on the back.

As well as using the hands, the massage is given fluidly and rhythmically using the forearms in wide, flat strokes that ease tension.

This can be described as feeling the gentle yet powerful waves of Hawaii moving over the body.

The full-body movements also help to release energy, helping to relax the body, encouraging a free and more abundant flow of vital energy through the recipient’s body.


IN PRACTICE
Individual treatments are administered in “L’institut by Thermes de Spa”.
Bathrobe is provided. Coconut butter is used for the massage. The whole body is uncovered during the session to allow the therapist to apply wide, rhythmic strokes. A towel or pareo covers the intimate parts of the body at all times.
